If you are looking for a job in tech, you might have read about Pathrise online. Or maybe you have come across one of our articles, like this list of data science interview questions from top tech companies or our software engineer resume template.
However you found us, you might have a few questions about our program and how it works. This article will outline everything you need to know about Pathrise so you can decide for yourself how we can help you find a great job.
What does Pathrise do?
Pathrise is an online mentorship program that helps people navigate their job search so they can successfully find their first, or next, great job in tech. The program is flexible and personalized so that each person works on the areas with which they struggle the most. The Princeton Review explains that we “give you an edge, get your foot in the door, and optimize the hiring process.”
Fellows in the Pathrise program work with 2 different types of expert mentors. The first are career mentors. These are former technical recruiters and career coaches at top companies like Google, Apple, and Triplebyte as well as former leaders in career services at universities like Stanford and University of Chicago. Career mentors guide fellows through each stage of their job search. They provide support and proven, data-backed tips and templates for their resume and LinkedIn optimization, reverse recruiting and cold emailing, behavioral interviews, and negotiation.
At the same time, fellows work with a variety of industry mentors who help them master technical interviews and challenges. Our industry mentors are current and former experts and senior team members at tech companies like Facebook, Amazon, Salesforce, Stripe, and more. Industry mentors work with fellows on pair programming, whiteboarding, case studies, and everything else they need to be successful in their sessions.
Who can Pathrise help?
Currently, Pathrise offers the following industry tracks:
- Software engineering
- Web development
- Data science
- Product and UX design
- Marketing
- Sales
- Product management, strategy, and operations
Fellows in our program should have some background and education in their field of interest so that they can get the most out of our technical workshops and training. We work with new grads and bootcamp grads as well as experienced folks who are looking to level up their career. Pathrise can benefit every person who is looking to find a great job faster and make more money.
How much is Pathrise?
There are a couple of different ways to participate in the Pathrise program. Most people choose the income share agreement (ISA) option, which means that the program is free for the duration. Fellows do not need to pay any money while they are looking for a job. Then, once they find a great job and start working, they pay back a percentage of their first year’s income. Currently, that percentage is usually 9% paid over 6 months, capped at $13k. However, we offer scholarships and discounts, which can bring the percentage down and make the payment timing longer.
Fellows can also choose to pay for Pathrise upfront rather than with our ISA. If they choose this option, the cost is $7k.
Is Pathrise legitimate?
Yes, Pathrise is a legitimate, venture-backed startup that has helped over 1,000 people land great jobs in tech in the past 2 years. The company was in the incubator Y Combinator W ‘18 batch and employs roughly 40 people full-time across the United States. We’ve been featured in top publications like Forbes, Business Insider, The Princeton Review, VentureBeast, and many more. Plus, we get results.
- While in the Pathrise program, job-seekers find 5-15 quality opportunities per week.
- With our optimizations in the application stage, people see a 2-4x increase in responses.
- When interviewing, candidates see 1.5-3x increase in performance.
- With guidance from their mentors, people get a 10-20% lift (average of $10k-$20k) in salary from negotiation alone.
On average, Pathrise fellows find a job within 3-6 months, compared to 9 months on average for job-seekers on their own. One month of unemployment is $8,333.33 in lost income for someone who would make a $100k salary, so finding a job quickly not only saves energy but also money.
